(CLM) RECOGNITION SERVICE
On Sunday June 5th, 2022 we had the opportunity to host the conference-wide Certified Lay Minister (CLM) Graduate Recognition Service. What a beautiful service and wonderful time of fellowship and celebration! Big thank-you to everyone who worked so hard to make it such a special occasion. And congratulations to our very own Brenda and Denny who were recognized as new CLMs! We look forward to their continued ministry at Salem and beyond!
REIMAGINE SALEM SUNDAY TABLE TALKS
In May we kicked off our visioning process. “Foundation” was our May Focus for Re-imagine Salem. We had our very first Table Talk Sunday with 27 people in attendance! Everyone at this meeting was given a Re-Imagine Salem Workbook & Journal.
We also started our brainstorming vision board. We had a lot of people participate in table thoughts. We invite you to join us for more of our 3rd Sunday table talks to continue the conversation. This is only the beginning!
GOOD ENOUGH LENTEN SERMON SERIES
During lent we set up a ladder in the sanctuary throughout the series as a visual touchstone. Our children placed a new plant each week onto the ladder to symbolize continuous growth and
rooted-ness. The image of climbing endless rungs through life is such a visceral metaphor for the incompleteness we can sometimes feel, especially when we look around to the “rungs” that we perceive others are standing on. The idea of “blooming where you’re planted” means that we cease striving for some unattainable ideal and instead choose to embrace our current state, even if it’s a little grubby, exposed, or uncomfortable.
UNITED METHODIST WOMEN
RAISE FUNDS FOR UKRAINE RELIEF!
During our Annual Potpie, Soup and Bake sale hosted by the United Methodist Women (UMW) proceeds were collected as a fundraiser to benefit the SUMC Mission and Ministry Relief funds and Ukraine Relief. (Photo left to right: Members of UMW; Marguerite Guers, Wendy Firzwater, Kendra Bartush, Sherry Coonan, Kathi Street, Brenda Binns.) The UMW raised a total of $3,000 in Mission & Ministry funds! Salem’s United Methodist Women (UMW) Treasurer Sherry Coonan and UMW President Sharon Booher presented Pastor Stacy a check for $3,00.00
SUPPORTING OUR LOCAL HEROS
In early March Salem delivered coffee and donuts to local fireman who helped during a recent fire in Orwigsburg, PA. Several fire companies were involved in fighting the fire near SR 443. We are proud to support our local fire department workers. Remember to keep our community workers in your thoughts and prayers. We are thankful for the people dedicated to keeping our communities safe and who are the first on scene when help is needed!

But now Holy Grounds is BACK! To kick-off this ministry, we took it outside! We hope everyone enjoyed "Coffee on the Corner" Neighbors of Salem - join us for a cup of coffee inside next time!
