What is Joy Rising?
At a time when life is stressful and we are all just trying to make it through the day, Joy Rising exists to break into the mundane and offer the experience of JOY. Through engagement at community events and surprise bursts of pop-up joy, Joy Rising is committed to improving the quality of life for every person with no strings attached. We also know that joy is contagious and that by increasing access to joy we will create a chain reaction that fills our community with hope and life. Joy Rising is the partner of Salem United Methodist Church in Orwigsburg, PA.

Where is God calling you to serve this year?
We are growing and gaining momentum and God is on the move. SO! Our job right now is to continue to nurture that momentum that God is building, because if we get stagnant it will stop. It’s going to take all hands-on deck to carry out the incredible plans that God has for us. What part will you play? Special Teams
Visioning Team
Last year we spent time as a congregation praying, seeing, and dreaming about the vision for Salem’s future. Who is God calling us to be and what is God calling us to do in this next season? Now we need a small team to bring all of that visioning work together into a clearly articulated vision. This will be an exciting opportunity to engage with our congregation and the work that they’ve done to discern the exciting plans that God has for Salem.
Kids & Student Ministries
Our kids and teens aren’t the future of the church; they are the church now! How are we fully including them (and their families) in the life of Salem? How are we offering faith formation opportunities that meet their needs? To do this well, we need to grow our team of people that care about our students and are committed to making sure they are nurtured fully in the life of our church.
Thursday Dinner Church
We witnessed in 2022 that dinner church was a great success, and it became clear that this needs to continue as a ministry and worship opportunity at Salem. Are you interested in joining the team that makes this come to life? Or are you willing to step in as a volunteer? There are opportunities to provide food, assist with setup/cleanup, and be a welcoming presence. This is a church-wide effort!
Joy Rising
We have been slowly building our new partner Joy Rising. 2023 is our year to launch it! Are you interested in making plans for how we are going to offer joy to our neighbors? Or do you want to make sure you are at the front lines of sharing the joy? This is a really fun way to live out your faith if you are looking to experience more joy yourself in 2023.
