SUNDAY SERMONS & DAILY DEVOTIONALS

LENT 2021: HOPE IN DIFFICULT TIMES

Click the dates listed to view our Sunday Lenten Services. Worship recordings will be available after they are livestreamed and uploaded the following week. You can view Sunday morning worship live on Facebook at 8:45 AM or 10:45 AM. Gather with us via Zoom each Wednesday of Lent for a time of reflection and prayer. The women’s Bible Study has put together devotions for Lent. This project was coordinated by Brenda Binns and began with the women’s Bible Study but expanded beyond their group, to include both men and women. Five of these Lenten devotions will be shared on Wednesdays of Lent with a different message each week followed by a brief discussion/sharing and prayer time. This is in place of the Lenten Community worship we typically have each year.  Lenten Wednesday Worship Schedule:

DEVOTIONS FROM THE HEART OF SALEM

Week 2 – Before and After

The Lectionary Reading: Ephesians 2:1-10
By Rose Galuska

Key Verses:
It is by grace you have been saved, through faith – – and this is not from yourselves, it is the GIFT of God – not by works so that no one can boast.   Ephesians 2:8,9   NIV

Devotion:
We’ve all seen pictures of before and after – weight loss, plastic surgery, home makeovers.  We see the condition or situation before a particular event or process occurs.  Then we see what it looks like after this intervention. So, it should be with us!  Before we accepted Jesus as our savior, we were dead because of our trespasses and sins, and the way we lived our lives.  After, God acted out of an abundance of love and mercy to make us alive with Christ. We became a new creation.  These changes should be visible to all; we reflect the love and grace that God has given to us and we give this love and peace to others.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, It’s hard to imagine how much you love us.  Please help me, through your Holy Spirit, to show that love and grace to others, especially my church family. In Jesus’ name,  Amen
